The Children’s Link Society is pleased to be supported by the Mavericks since 2000.

The funds raised by this generous philanthropic group of Calgary business men have been used for many important and worthwhile causes within The Society. The Annual Mavericks Golf Tournament is the second largest core funding event for the Children’s Link Society.

As a result of the long term relationship with the Mavericks, The Mavericks Families in Crisis Support Fund was born. This program was established to meet the one time financial need of families who have a child with a significant medical need or disability. The struggles that these families face are at times unique, and The Mavericks have recognized that a small but much needed financial contribution will offer relief in times of stress or tragedy. Children’s Link is honoured to administer these funds to families who need this type of support.

One mother received money to purchase a stroller so she could more easily take her child on the bus for medical appointments at the Children’s Hospital. Families who have a child receiving life saving surgery at the Stollery Hospital in Edmonton and who require financial assistance for their accommodation and transportation have had these needs met by the Mavericks Crisis Fund. Families, who have lost wages due to time away from their job to attend medical appointments with their children, have received financial aid to cover bill payments or rent requirements thanks to the Mavericks Crisis Fund.
